Once we have reviewed your jewelry, we will offer an estimate of the cost of the document based on the amount of research required and the complexity of the item(s). If we find that the price will exceed the original quote we will notify you immediately. Please call or schedule an appointment.
You will receive a professional, multi-page report that will reflect the comprehensive investigation of your jewelry prepared in conformity with and subject to the standards of the American Gem Society. The minimum fee for one piece with diamonds or precious stones is $85.00. The price of each additional item on the same appraisal starts at $75.00. The minimum fee for gold, platinum or silver pieces with no stones begins at $75.00. Each additional item on the same appraisal is a minimum of $65.00.
For an additional fee we can also provide same day/next day service (depending on the number of items and the time of day received).
Updating one of our existing appraisals is $40.00 minimum.
In addition to appraisals we also offer qualitative reports, comprehensive descriptions of your jewelry. Although not an appraisal, since no value is determined, these documents are prepared in conformity with and subject to the standards of the American Gem Society. The minimum fee is $50.00 per item.
You will receive a detailed description of each piece of jewelry, digital color photographs of each item, carat weight (estimated if in a mounting), AGS/GIA clarity and color charts for diamonds as well as the diamond's cut description, if applicable.
In addition to appraisals we also offer jewelry consultations. This basic information is what many people seek to determine if further documentation is needed. A consultation may be the first step taken to separate fashion (costume) jewelry from fine jewelry in an estate settlement or to determine which pieces in your jewelry collection need to be insured.
Although not an appraisal, since no value is determined and no written report is prepared, this advice is given in conformity with the standards of the American Gem Society.
Please call for an appointment. There is no charge for the first five minutes. Thereafter the fee, which includes working with two AGS Certified Gemologist Appraisers, is $200.00/hour with a $50.00 minimum.
